It has been a busy month of Pacific Language week celebrations and as we reach the end of another successful series.  In honour of the 2023 Pacific Language Week celebrations, we are excited to announce the first edition release of the Centre for Pacific Languages - Speak Pacific App.

The Speak Pacific App is a fun and educational language learning App.  It is an introduction to 7 Pacific languages and cultures.  This is the 1st edition of the Speak Pacific App and there are future plans to add more languages. Having the Speak Pacific App at your fingertips, allows anyone with a mobile phone to learn the basics and be able to say a simple greeting in one of the 7 Pacific languages on offer.  The Speak Pacific App, is a digital mobile App that further supports the Pacific Language courses offered by the Centre for Pacific Languages.

Initiated under the leadership of the previous CEO Tuiloma Lafaiali’i, the Academic Programmes and Tutor Lead - Meritiana Spandow has been instrumental in leading and getting this project completed.  The task of working with 7 languages has not been easy, with endless hours of checking & re-checking for accuracy with several CPL language and cultural experts in partnership with Kiwa-Digital.

The Centre for Pacific Languages would like to acknowledge Kiwa Digital team for the IT and Development work, including the language tutors that assisted - Lolokini Lynn Pavihi, Linda Zoll, Sulata Foai-Amiatu, Jennifer Charlier, Natasha Talakai, Fesaitu Solomone, Amelia Tokalauvere, Alfie Prasad and Sonny Sa'uila Natanielu.

The Speak Pacific App, is one of the many projects undertaken by Kiwa Digital alongside the Fakaako e Vagahau Niue App, Takaua Tongan Language App and the Gagana Samoa Language App.  It will certainly add to the richness of language tools and resources easily available.

Download the Speak Pacific App from the Apple App Store or get it on Google Play.
