Suitable for

This course is right for you if you’re a beginner learner who’s never spoken Fäeag Rotuḁm Ta before, or you have a basic understanding but want to gain confidence in using the language. The course is taught in English so learners do not need to be fluent in Fäeag Rotuḁm. It’s designed to help learners develop their Fäeag Rotuḁm and cultural knowledge, protocols and practices through intergenerational and family learning of language, music and cultural protocols from a beginner to those who are knowledgeable of the language.

 

Course duration

Taught over 4 weeks, students will join a face-to-face 2-hour tutor facilitated class per week.

The best place to park is the carpark on Leyton Way, opposite the main food court entrance. Parking times out after 240 minutes, but if you’d like to stay at our office longer you can purchase a $10 all day parking pass from the Westfield Mall Information Kiosk located at the Farmers end.

Course content

Learners will gain the basic skills and knowledge of Fäeag Rotuḁm Ta at an introduction level, as well as get an introductory understanding of key Rotuman cultural practices.

Students who complete the course will have developed the knowledge and skills to be able to use greetings, build their vocabulary, converse at a basic level in Fäeag Rotuḁm, and act in a culturally appropriate way as expected in the Rotuman context through intergenerational and family learning of language, music and cultural protocols from a beginner to those who are knowledgeable of the language.

Entry requirements

Applicants must be NZ Citizens, or permanent resident residing in NZ and is a family workshop for all ages.
