Advocacy at CPL
CPL has a leadership role in advocating for the use of Pacific languages in Aotearoa – especially in the places we live, work and play.
We work with key organisations such as the Ministry for Pacific Peoples, the Human Rights Commission, and the Auckland Languages Strategy Working Group.
The Decade of Indigenous Languages begins in 2022. We have an established working relationship with our NZ UNESCO office, and will be working towards activities that promote the status of the 9 core Pacific languages that are recognised in Aotearoa NZ during this important period. Our advocacy role allows us to support ethnic-specific groups who are developing or reviewing dictionaries. We also lead the conversation on the development of new words (such as new language for the IT, Health and Wellbeing sectors).
Please contact us for further information, or if you would like to collaborate with us. We'd love to hear from you.
